Mr. Ammar Alanbuki

Mr Ammar Alanbuki is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust, based at the Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath, and also sees private patients at Nuffield Health Brighton Hospital. He specialises in advanced robotic and minimally invasive urological surgery, with particular expertise in Aquablation® therapy for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), robotic prostate surgery, kidney cancer surgery, laparoscopic and robotic kidney surgery, and the management of complex kidney stone disease. Mr Alanbuki has played a leading role in developing and expanding the robotic urology service across University Hospitals Sussex. As Clinical Lead for the Robotic Urology Programme, he has helped improve patient access to innovative surgical techniques that offer greater precision, reduced pain, shorter hospital stays and faster recovery. A particular area of expertise is Aquablation® therapy, an advanced robotic treatment for enlarged prostate (BPH). Using real-time ultrasound guidance and a heat-free high-pressure waterjet, Aquablation® precisely removes obstructing prostate tissue while helping preserve the structures responsible for urinary continence and sexual function. This technology provides effective, durable symptom relief and is suitable for many men, including those with larger prostates. Mr Alanbuki completed his basic surgical training in the North-East of England before undertaking a research fellowship at Barts and The London NHS Trust, where he contributed to the internationally recognised REDUCE Trial investigating prostate cancer prevention. He subsequently completed higher surgical training in the Eastern Deanery and advanced fellowship training in endourology, complex stone disease and laparoscopic renal surgery at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Alanbuki holds several leadership and educational roles. He is Clinical Lead for the Robotic Urology Programme, MDT Lead for Kidney Cancer, Urology Module Lead for Brighton and Sussex Medical School, and a member of the Trust Consultant Appraisal Team. He is actively involved in training future surgeons and advancing robotic and minimally invasive urological surgery across the region. Mr Alanbuki is committed to providing personalised, evidence-based care, ensuring that every patient receives clear information and an individualised treatment plan.
