Dr. Shane Barney

Dr. Barney is board certified from the American Board of Urology and has a special interest in BPH– and overactive bladder-related voiding dysfunction. He is originally from Sheridan, Wyoming. He graduated cum laude from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He then received his medical degree from FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. He completed a general surgery internship and urology residency at Brooke Army Medical Center and University of Texas Health and Science Center San Antonio respectively. Dr. Barney is an army veteran of 12 years who served as a major in the 286th Medical Detachment of the 32nd Hospital Center. Although he is not a Texas native, he has spent more time here than you can shake a stick at and plans to make San Antonio his permanent home. Dr. Barney is fluent in Spanish and enjoys Puerto Rican food that his mother-in-law cooks. When not working, he enjoys time with his wife and five children. They enjoy hiking, camping, swimming at the pool, and church.
