Dr. Ugarte has been a regional leader in the field of urology. He was instrumental in bringing new technologies, such as cryotherapy for prostate cancer, to the metropolitan area as well as to greater Minnesota. He is medical director of successful physician owned partnerships such as Midwest Stone and Minvasive Surgical. His areas of interest include: urologic oncology, stone disease, female urology, enlarged prostate, and cryosurgery. As a past president of the Minnesota Urological Association, Dr. Ugarte is well respected. He has been voted to Mpls/St Paul Magazine’s Top Doctors list. He is a Urology Instructor for Internal Medicine residents from Abbott-Northwestern Hospital. Dr. Ugarte also teaches other urologists in the fields of microwave therapy for enlarged prostate, and cryotherapy for prostate cancer. Dr. Ugarte has presented research at the American Urologic Association and World Congress of Endourology annual meetings. He has numerous peer reviewed publications.
