Dr. Ricardo Gonzalez
Dr. Gonzalez is a graduate of Stanford University School of Medicine and completed his residency and fellowship at Cornell in New York City. He currently practices urology with a focus on voiding dysfunction and pelvic restorative medicine reconstructive surgery at Houston Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Urology (ABU) and has earned board subspecialty certification in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery (FPMRS) through the ABU and ACOG. He is the Program Director for the fellowship in Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FMPRS Urology) at Houston Methodist Hospital. He is an Associate Professor of Clinical Urology for Weill Cornell, Associate Professor of Urology for Texas A&M, the Houston Methodist Academic Institute and clinical faculty for Baylor College of Medicine. He is former Medical Director for the Centers for Voiding Dysfunction and Clinical Research at Houston Metro Urology. Dr. Gonzalez is an internationally-recognized expert in surgical therapies for BPH, including Aquablation and other therapies. He has been invited to teach BPH operations throughout the U.S. and in 19 foreign countries. His research interests include the development and evaluation of minimally invasive treatments that improve voiding function and urinary control in patients. His philosophy is that prostate treatments do not have to sacrifice sexual well-being. His goal is to provide state-of-the-art urologic care to improve patients’ quality of life.

All surgical treatments have inherent and associated side effects. Other risks include ejaculatory dysfunction and a low risk of injury to the urethra or rectum where the devices gain access to the body for treatment. Further, there may be other risks as in other urological surgery, such as anesthesia risk or the risk of infection, including the potential transmission of blood borne pathogens.
