Dr. Michael Herman

Michael Herman, MD, is Director of the Division of Urology at Mount Sinai South Nassau and a recognized leader in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate disease. He provides comprehensive care for patients with elevated PSA, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), prostate cancer, and other urologic conditions, with a particular focus on minimally invasive therapies that improve outcomes and quality of life. Dr. Herman has been instrumental in advancing innovative treatments for prostate enlargement on Long Island. Under his leadership, Mount Sinai South Nassau became the first hospital on Long Island to offer Aquablation therapy and the first to implement the next-generation AI-enabled HYDROS robotic Aquablation system. Throughout his career, Dr. Herman has championed the adoption of cutting-edge, evidence-based treatments that expand options for patients while minimizing recovery time and treatment-related side effects. His clinical interests encompass all aspects of prostatic disease, including elevated PSA evaluation, BPH, prostate cancer screening, and minimally invasive surgical therapies. Dr. Herman has been recognized among New York’s top physicians, including being named to New York metro area "Super Doctors" list, a distinction based on a peer-reviewed selection process. He believes strongly in a patient-centered approach to care, taking the time to understand each patient’s goals, preferences, and concerns.
