Dr. John Coursey

John W. Coursey, M.D. is a native of Nashville, Tennessee. He completed his undergraduate studies at the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, and received a Bachelor of Science degree. He then completed his basic medical education at the University of Vanderbilt School of Medicine in Nashville and received his Doctor of Medicine degree. He completed his Internship at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington, and his Urology Residency at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. In 2003, he became a Diplomat of the American Board of Urology. He served in the U. S. Army for over 20 years as a Urologist and Flight Surgeon. He served two combat tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 101st Airborne (Air Assault) Division in 2003 and with the 31st Combat Support Hospital in 2004. Dr. Coursey has a special interest in minimally invasive robotic surgery. He has done robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgery since 2007. He is currently the Medical Director of Robotic Surgery at Maury Regional Medical Center. His main focus in this area is prostate and kidney cancer treatments.
