Dr. Ali Kasraeian

Dr. Ali Kasraeian
Ali Kasraeian, MD, FACS, is a board certified urologist providing general and specialized care to the residents of Northeast Florida at Kasraeian Urology. Named among “America’s Top Surgeons” by the Consumers’ Research Council of America, he completed his fellowship in advanced laparoscopic, robotic and minimally invasive urologic surgery at the Montsouris Institute in Paris, France. He received a bachelor of science degree (with honors) from the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he also earned his doctorate in medicine (with research honors). Dr. Kasraeian remained in Gainesville to complete his residency in urology at the UF College of Medicine. Together with his father, Dr. Ahmad Kasraeian, named among America’s top 7 percent of physicians, and honored as one of U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Doctors,” the father and son physicians provide comprehensive urologic care specializing in minimally invasive and ablative urological surgery. Following his fellowship, Dr. Ali Kasraeian specializes in second opinion consultation, the advanced diagnosis of prostate disease, and minimally invasive and ablative urological surgery for prostate, kidney and bladder cancers as well as BPH. Additionally, he is one of few experienced HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) surgeons in the region. HIFU is a minimally invasive ablative therapy for localized prostate cancer, which can be considered as a whole gland or focal therapy alternative for the management of prostate cancer. In 2018, Dr. Kasraeian was one of the first surgeons in the United States to offer Procept Aquabeam Aquablation, an innovative new technology for the management of BPH, which combines robotic technology, multi-dimensional real-time imaging, and a heat-free waterjet to remove obstructive prostate tissue. Kasraeian Urology is proud to have been the first practice in Northeast Florida/Southeast Georgia to offer multi-parametric MRI/US Fusion Targeted Prostate Biopsy to the region. This advanced diagnostic technique allows for more precise (and accurate) diagnosis of lesions within the prostate that may be missed with standard biopsy techniques. Furthermore, multi-parametric MRI/US Fusion Targeted Prostate Biopsy facilitates consideration of focal therapy options where only the area within the prostate afflicted with cancer is treated leaving the normal tissue unaffected. Dr. Kasraeian is passionate about prostate cancer awareness as well as healthcare policy and advocacy. He is a member of the State of Florida Prostate Cancer Advisory Council (PCAC), a position appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis. He is also a board member and legislative chair of the Florida Urological Society, and is on the Joint Advocacy Committee of the Florida Chapter of the American College of Surgeons.

All surgical treatments have inherent and associated side effects. Individual’s outcomes may depend on a number of factors, including but not limited to patient characteristics, disease characteristics and/or surgeon experience. The most common side effects are mild and transient and may include mild pain or difficulty when urinating, discomfort in the pelvis, blood in the urine, inability to empty the bladder or a frequent and/or urgent need to urinate, and bladder or urinary tract infection. Other risks include ejaculatory dysfunction and a low risk of injury to the urethra or rectum where the devices gain access to the body for treatment. Further, there may be other risks as in other urological surgery, such as anesthesia risk or the risk of infection, including the potential transmission of blood borne pathogens. For more information about potential side effects and risks associated with Aquablation therapy for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) treatment, speak with your urologist or surgeon. Prior to using our products, please review the Instructions for Use, Operator’s Manual or User Manual, as applicable, and any accompanying documentation for a complete listing of indications, contraindications, warnings, precautions and potential adverse events. No claim is made that the AquaBeam Robotic System will cure any medical condition, or entirely eliminate the diseased entity. Repeated treatment or alternative therapies may sometimes be required.
