Mr. Feras Al-Jaafari

Mr Al Jaafari is a consultant urologist with a special interest in Endourology (stone disease) and the minimally invasive treatment of BPH (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia/Enlargement). He completed his medical and basic surgical training at "Gr. T. Popa" University in Iași, Romania. He completed his urological training in the East of England, having had a broad exposure to endourology, uro-oncology and robotic surgery. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS) and of the European Board of Urology (FEBU). He is a member of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers (Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh) and an honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. His training included a uro-oncology short (visiting) fellowship at "UZ Leuven University Hospital" in Belgium and multiple visits to leading European training centres, sharpening his skills in LASER prostatectomy (anatomical GreenLight LASER, HoLEP), minimally invasive BPH surgery, and keyhole stone surgery (PCNL). Mr Al Jaafari is a recognised expert in the management of male LUTS (Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms) and has been designated as an expert user of the Greenlight Laser and the Rezum technology. He has introduced all the minimally invasive treatments to NHS Scotland and is widely regarded as a proctor in endourological surgery. He is a full-time consultant at NHS Fife and an Honorary Senior Lecturer/Urology Education Lead (graduate entry - ScotGEM) at the School of Medicine, University of St Andrews.
