Adam Lorentz
Dr. Adam Lorentz is an Assistant Professor of Urology at the Emory University School of Medicine. He graduated from the Honors Program at the University of Georgia with Bachelor of Science degrees in Genetics and Psychology. He attended medical school at the Emory University School of Medicine, where he participated widely in local and abroad volunteer service, including work with the Emory Haiti Alliance. He went on to complete his internship and residency training at Emory and joined Emory Urology as a faculty member in 2018. His clinical interests include urologic cancers, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), kidney stone disease, and minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Lorentz has been recognized for excellence in both academics and patient care. During his training he was awarded the William Hollis Cooner Award for exemplary compassion and patient care as well as the Montague Boyd research award from the Southeastern Section of the American Urological Association. As faculty, he's been recognized by his peers with the Hidden Gem award, calling him "a consummate physician leader who is esteemed by his team, his colleagues and his patients alike." Dr. Lorentz is a certified robotic surgeon and the first urologist in Atlanta to perform single-port robotic surgery. He is the only urologist offering single-port robotic surgery in Atlanta, using the advanced Da Vinci SP platform. This allows for less-invasive approaches to common urological surgeries, including extraperitoneal prostate and kidney surgery. He also offers the most current treatments improving men's quality of life, such as penile prosthesis and modern benign prostate treatments like Aquablation and UroLift. He is involved in mentoring medical students and residents. His research has earned numerous awards; he has co-authored over 35 peer-reviewed scientific journal articles and abstracts, which have been presented locally, nationally, and internationally. As Director of Emory Clinic Urology at Emory University Hospital Midtown, and Co-Director of the Community Division of Emory Urology, Dr. Lorentz is working to expand patient access to urologic care in Atlanta and the surrounding communities.

All surgical treatments have inherent and associated side effects. Individual’s outcomes may depend on a number of factors, including but not limited to patient characteristics, disease characteristics and/or surgeon experience. The most common side effects are mild and transient and may include mild pain or difficulty when urinating, discomfort in the pelvis, blood in the urine, inability to empty the bladder or a frequent and/or urgent need to urinate, and bladder or urinary tract infection. Other risks include ejaculatory dysfunction and a low risk of injury to the urethra or rectum where the devices gain access to the body for treatment. Further, there may be other risks as in other urological surgery, such as anesthesia risk or the risk of infection, including the potential transmission of blood borne pathogens. For more information about potential side effects and risks associated with Aquablation therapy for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) treatment, speak with your urologist or surgeon. Prior to using our products, please review the Instructions for Use, Operator’s Manual or User Manual, as applicable, and any accompanying documentation for a complete listing of indications, contraindications, warnings, precautions and potential adverse events. No claim is made that the AquaBeam Robotic System will cure any medical condition, or entirely eliminate the diseased entity. Repeated treatment or alternative therapies may sometimes be required.
